Help from Mom and Dad: College Students

One's financial situation can often be stressful when it comes to a college career, but for some it's never an issue. Some maintain jobs throughout the year, while others simply do without. However, many rely on their parents to carry them through the school year.
"My first semester could have been alot worse finanically, had it not been for my parents," said Leah Kuhn, a freshman at Villanova University. "My parents give me 100 dollars every month or so and I'm allowed to spend it on just about anything."
Kuhn understands that she could easily be saving her money for a greater use, but also realizes that on a college campus, where everything is overpriced, it is easy to spend 100 dollars.
"Looking back, I probably could have and should have cut down on alot of things I didn't really need because I spent way too much money on clothes, eating out, and parties over the weekend," Kuhn said.
However, Kuhn feels that with the economy where it is right now, it might be hard to find a decent job and that if she wants to continue to enjoying her leisurely acitvities that she will need to get a job next semester to keep up with the poor economy.
"For my parents sake as well, I know I need to get a job," Kuhn said. "I'm 18 years old now and it's time I make some money of my own."
