While the economy of gaming may be improving according to some reports, some gamers are left unable to buy due to practices used by companies like Capcom and Electronic Arts. Enrique Rodriguez, 21 and a Biology major in college, is one of the gamers hurt by this, though not entirely discouraged.
“There are other gamin companies that at least try to make up for their mistakes,” Enrique said. “The 3DS launch for instance. Nintendo gave original buyers of it before the price-drop 23 free games. $100 value right there!”
However, life as a student, from both commuting to school, and the constant work, has left little time for him to play. And this in turn has made him think about the quality of games now.
“Gaming companies mainly cut and paste games now, with minor changes,” Rodriguez said. “And most of them just up the violence in their games, but not all of us play violent games. I'm more of an RPG and Puzzle gamer, and Professor Layton doesn't have carnage everywhere.”
Currently, he reminisces back to the 90s, where gaming was evolving into a new age, where fresh ideas were born and everything seemed fresh and new. Those days however seem distant.
