Almost every other day it seemed, Bank of America made the news with story after story about foul business practices or the swindling of its customers.
Still, Bart Davidson had no interest in leaving when he wasn’t affected by it.
“I was doing just fine,” Davidson said. “I didn’t see a reason to switch banks if my money was safe.”
When he found out Bank of America was planning to charge customers a fee of $5 for all debit card transactions, Davidson made the choice to leave.
“I use my debit card for a lot of purchases so I just can’t afford to stay if they’re going to do something like that,” Davidson said.
Since November, Davidson has been banking at PNC Bank. He said he has not been charged any fees since switching.
“My friends thought I was crazy for banking there so long,” Davidson said. “Seemed like everybody got hit with some ridiculous fee there.”
